Deer Creek Cove Cabin
In the quiet rolling hills of Southern Indiana life is slow and easy. Thousands of acres of National Forest act as a buffer from major development. Small family farms and residents who really don‘t see the need to hurry remind us the charm of the old days still exists. Within driving distance of two major metropolitan areas, Louisville KY and Indianapolis IN, and the smaller cities of Evansville IN (pop. 150,000) and Owensboro KY (pop. 75,000)  the area is by no means cut off from the world. Locals say they are just ‘off the beaten path.”

There is much to be discovered in Southern Indiana. The land is beautiful, boasting of rolling green hills, thousands of acres of forest,  rivers big and small.  Native wildlife roam the countryside. Deer graze in your backyard, turkeys and their young cross the highways, owls are heard in the evenings, and you can see an occasional eagle. So if you want to just ‘hang out’ at your place and read a book or watch the deer, that’s one choice.  If you prefer an off Broadway play, dining at a choice restaurant, or simply shopping with friends, you can do that too. And  there is boating. Everyone could pile up on a pontoon boat or outboard and spend the day on the river fishing, skiing or meeting with friends on a sandy beach. Perry County has 8 boat ramps.

The forests boast an abundance of deer and turkey for the folks who like to hunt. But that’s just part of the fun you can have in the Hoosier National Forest. There are many horse trails and an established horseman’s club. There are biking  and hiking groups. And maybe a birdwatcher or two who marvels at the numerous blue herons, or the migrating sandhill cranes that like to stop  in the empty fields for a much needed R&R.

Southern Indiana has lots of other things to experience besides cities and country. Local attractions range from  award winning wineries, acclaimed amusement park Holiday World, famous French Lick Springs Resort and Casino,  West Baden Springs Hotel, Lincoln City, where Abe spent several years of his childhood, Marengo and Wyndotte Caves, historic Corydon IN, Paoli Peaks Ski Slopes, and St Meinrad Archabby.

Scenic Rural Land offers many pieces of Southern Indiana’s finest land for sale. Various sized lots, from 2 acres to 10 acres are available. Whether you are looking for water recreation, horse riding, boating, hunting or fishing,
relaxing or retiring, there is a spot waiting for you.
